TESTIMONIALS

Ahmed has been my guide during a beautiful trip in Mauritania, just before the pandemic. He speaks a good English and is always ready to show you everything and to be of some help because he loves his country and he is a real expert, being his business for a long time. Also important, he's a nice and funny guy, we spent really great time together.

I spent 4 wonderful days doing a tour with Ahmed, visiting Atar, Chinguetti, Ouadane, Terjit, Mhairith and Nouakchott incl the camel market. Ahmed was very attentive and altered plan according to my wishes. He has a wealth of knowledge about Mauritania, he’s a very kind person and always goes the extra mile. Ahmed is definitely a someone, whom I would recommend to anyone wanting to experience the best of Mauritania.

I spent 9 days with Ahmed as my guide in May 2022. The following is copied from my review at the time on a different thread on Tripadvisor. The desert driving was beautiful and included various oases, Agrour, Oudane, the Richat structure. I took the iron ore train from Temimichatt to Nouhidbou. The latter was tough but well worth it and my guide Ahmed was able to advise about safety on the train. I disagree with a post from social nomads on their listing 3 litres of water for the train. Urinating is a major problem if you take the train as I did when it is full of ore. Standing up when the carriage is swaying so much is potentially dangerous as it would be very easy to be thrown over the side. Being slightly dehydrated may be a better option for a 10 or 12 hour ride. You can drink after the train of course! With care it is very much worth doing but with a guide for local knowledge it is much safer. I can highly recommend my guide Ahmed. Absolutely no need to book with a western travel agency. Go direct it is cheaper and you pay the people who do the real work and more than they would get if sub contacting to a European or American travel company. The trip was one of my best ever.

Ahmed, who was my dear guide in Chinguitti, was very friendly, welcoming and really lovely company. A big thank you for being so friendly, patient and reliable. I absolutely loved visiting Amogjar, Chinguitti and its surroundings, Mherith and Terjit. An unforgettable experience.

It was my first time in Mauritania, Ahmed and his team made me discover all the possible aspects of culture, nature, beauties of this big country! We have rode from the capital to the deep desert... We had a great time with adventure always feeling safe, Ahmed is very fun and also professional: careful with the travellers, sensitive to the people, excellent with the organization. I highly recommend an adventure with him and I can't wait for having another one with him for myself!

My trip to Mauritania was probably one of the most fascinating trips I've ever taking, both culturally and scenically. And I can't imagine a better guide than Ahmed. Throughout the tour, he took the time to explain so much about the country's fascinating history, society, and spectacularly unique geography. Along with our terrific driver Dellahi, it felt like I was traveling with good friends. We regularly stopped for tea (being invited for Mauritanian sweet mint tea is quite a special experience), and at bakeries for fresh bread, not to mention fruit stands and other foods. He even invited me to his parents' home for tea. I can't recommend both Ahmed and Mauritania highly enough!

We were a group of five traveling around Mauritania with Ahmed as our local guide. His expertise, knowledge, and kindness made our trip a memorable collection of stunning places we saw and wonderful food we ate. The iron ore train ride would have been impossible for us to do without Ahmed, who made sure that our safety was his priority. We highly recommend Ahmed to guide you around this fascinating country.

A while back I saw a National Geographic video documenting the Iron Ore Train in Mauritania I knew that this was something I had to do. Jumping onto a train and riding on top thru the Sahara desert would be a trip of a lifetime. So, I set about putting a trip together and ended up with Ahmed as my guide. In short, the trip was amazing. We drove out to a small village called Choum (a place where the train stops before continuing on to Nouadhibou, on the coast). Then we waited for the train at the home of a very hospitable family. They provided a comfortable place to relax as well as a very nice dinner. It was after 9PM when the train arrived and it was dark but we climbed aboard and got situated for the 12 hour trip. Ahmed took care of everything including a ground cover to cover the iron ore where we would rest. Very exciting! Anyway, the train started up and drove thru the night. With the desert being so dark it was an excellent chance to do some star gazing and listen to the sounds of the train. I did doze off eventually but the sunrise was glorious and it was an enjoyable ride into Nouadhibou where the train came to a stop so that everyone could get off. As I said, this was a trip of a life time, one that is so unique it is hard to do it justice with only words (I have attached some pictures). Ahmed is an excellent guide. He accompanied me on the train and took care of all logistics, driver, meals, hotels, everything. Besides the Iron Ore Train we visited the fish markets, Musee National, and Park National du Banc d'Arguin. The Mauritanian people are kind and hospitible and Mauritania is a place of much history and many cultures. I highly recommend it.
