NOUADHIBOU

Nouadhibou is the second-largest city in Mauritania, located in the northwest of the country, on the Atlantic coast. It is a major center for trade, fishing, and industry and is home to a diverse population of around 120,000 people.

One of the main economic activities in Nouadhibou is fishing, as the city's location provides easy access to some of the richest fishing grounds in the world. The city also has a large industrial zone, which includes a free trade zone, a fish processing plant, and a cement factory. Nouadhibou is also an important transportation hub, as it is the location of the country's largest port and the endpoint of the famous iron ore train from Zouerat. The city is also served by an international airport, with regular flights to other cities in Mauritania and neighboring countries.

The city has a rich cultural heritage, with a mix of Arab, Berber, and West African influences. Visitors can explore the local markets and sample traditional Mauritanian cuisine, which typically includes dishes such as couscous, tagine, and grilled fish. Nouadhibou is also known for its beautiful beaches, including Plage de l'Amitié, which is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. Nouadhibou is also the gate to access the Banc d'Arguin National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
