REMOTE ROUTES (13 DAYS TOUR)

DAY 0

Pick up from Nouakchott airport and drive to your hotel.

DAY 1

After an early breakfast, we will prepare for the long trip and get water and food for the trip. We will drive for 3 hours driving and have a in Akjojet for a cup of Mauritanian green tea. Later we will continue our way to Atar (2:00 driving) where we will have lunch then, on the way to Ouadane, we will stop at Ould Ebnou pass to take pictures of the rocky landscape. We will reach Ouadane in the late afternoon, where we will have dinner and spend the night.

DAY 2

In Oudane we will visit the Old and the New Town, then we will drive back to west and have a stop in Tanouchert to have a tea with local seminomadic people. Then we will continue our trip to Chinguetti and a have a bit of relaz after the long transfer. We will visit the Old Town and one of historical libraries that made this city designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then we will reach the nearby sandy dunes to enoy sunset. We will be back to our hotel for dinner and some traditional music. Night in Chinguetti.

DAY 3 

We will visit another ancient library and we will go to some villages nearby the city to meet local people and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of rural Sahara. In the late afternoon we will have a fascinating long ride on camels (from 2:00 to 3:00 hours) and will come back in the evening for dinner. Night in Chinguetti.

DAY 4

In the morning we will leave Chinguetti to visit the Agrour paintings. Later in Amogiar we will be in the old route of trans-Saharian caravans and visit Mheirth, one of the biggest oasis in Adrar region, and the beautiful village of Toungad. Then we will see the beautiful White Valley and cross the scenic Tifoujar Pass. We will continue to Terjit oasis, where will have lunch and we will visit the springs and the beautiful surroundings. Dinner and night in tents in Terjit.

DAY 5

Today we will have a long transfer (about 7:00 hours driving) to Tidjikja, crossing remote areas of Saharian landscapes. We will stop on the way for our lunch and will reach the city, famous for its Date Festival, in the late afternoon, where we will have our dinner and will spend the night in a local hotel.

DAY 6

Today we will drive eastbound to reach Tichitt and we will stop on the way for our lunch and to visit local villages that very rarely have been visited by tourism. We will reach the city in the afternoon and will have dinner there. Night in a local hotel.

DAY 7

Full day dedicated to Tichitt, a partly abandoned village at the foot of the Tagant Plateau that is known for its vernacular architecture, which is the reason why it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will also drive to the Neolithic archeaological site of Dhar Tichitt and its rock engravings. Dinner and night in Tichitt.

DAY 8

We will leave Tichitt on the way to the very remote city of Oualata, which is not far from the border with Mali. We will visit some very out of the way small village, where you can see how it's life so faraway from civilization. We will prepare our dinner and will spend a fascinating night in our tents in the middle of nowhere.

DAY 9

After breakfast in our camp, we will have another long drive eastbound. We will have the opportunity to meet the Nemadi people, a slowly disappearing group of traditional hunters with dogs. In the afternoon we will finally reach Oualata. Dinner and night in Oualata.

DAY 10

Full day in Oualata which is known for its well-preserved examples of traditional Saharan architecture with painted gates and walls - not only decorative but often with magical meanings - that are unique in the country and it has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

DAY 11

After breakfast we will drive back to west and will cross an area rarely visited by tourism. We will see sleepy villages and will reach the city of Kiffa, which is the place where the famous Kiffa beads were produced and nowadays groups of women bead makers are reviving the traditional methods. Dinner and night in a local hotel.

DAY 12

After another long transfer we will reach Nouakchott, the capital city. Back to a modern city after a long trip in remote areas, we will enjoy some relax and have dinner in a local restaurant. Night in Nouakchott.

DAY 13

Full day dedicated to Nouakchott, the capitol city. We will visit the Saudi Mosque, the Fish Market and one of the biggest Camels Market of West Africa. It will also be the perfect day for buying local products and souvenirs in the big market areas. We will drive you to the intarnational airport according to your flight schedule.
